***State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Proclamation:

Whereas. nutritious meals at school are an essential part of the school day and significantly
enhance the student learning environment, allowing children to concentrate on developing the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the workplace or
toward further studies: and
Whereas, school nutrition employees have worked tirelessly to provide nutritious meals to
the children of Wisconsin at more than 2,300 sites during the 2021-2022 school year, and
Whereas, the school nutrition employees who prepare and serve school meals help nurture our children through their daily interaction and support while facing unprecedented challenges; and
Whereas, school nutrition employees provide a caring and respectful school food service environment;
Therefore, be it resolved that I, Jill K. Underly, State Superintendent of Public Instruction
declared Friday, May 6, 2022, School Lunch Hero Day, a day to celebrate the importance of professional staff that help keep students nourished so they may learn.

**Here are a few words of wisdom:

This Sunday is Mother's Day. It's a day set aside to honor mothers,
grandmothers, and those who have been like a mother to us. Listen to
these words written by Anne Taylor:
Who ran to help me when I fell,
And would some pretty story tell,
or kiss the place to make it well?
        My mother.
Who mothers you? Maybe it's your mom, a stepmom, a grandmother, or
an aunt. Either way, the women who mother us have been there when we
needed them . . . . helping and loving us along the way.
Today, spend some time thinking about all the little things your mother,
grandmother, aunt, or stepmom has done for you. Take the time to write a
note expressing your appreciation for that love and attention. That's the
best present you could ever give her.

With something to think about, Make it a great day . . . . or not. The choice is yours.
