March 27, 2020 Dear Parents/Guardians, Thank you for picking up your student(s) essential learning materials from the gym. In with their essential learning materials, we have provided you with homework for your student(s) to complete. We are assigning ESSENTIAL learning activities. Please don’t stress at the sheer volume of materials that you have gotten. Some teachers printed off the whole rest of the year. Some teachers printed off one week of activities. Please wait to hear from your teachers about the expectations. They are going to be flexible as this is our first try at virtual education. We are going to make mistakes, but we are going to do the best that we can for you and your students. If there is a problem with completing a packet, please call your teachers. Let them know what is going on. The teachers can be flexible, but the homework must be completed. If you get lunch deliveries, we will pick up the old packet and give out a new packet on April 3, 2020 and every Friday after this. We are not delivering food on April 10, 2020. There will be a double lunch and breakfast bag on Thursday’s drop off. If you don’t get lunch deliveries, we will have a bin at the front doors for you to put your homework in. The office staff will be emptying it multiple times a day. We would like to leave at 4:00 pm. We are working on an overnight drop off solution. At this moment, we are going to be grading the homework. We have not received any guidance from the state on what this is going to look like. We will not be putting any grades into SKYWARD until after we receive direction from the state on how best to proceed. We will keep you posted via email and the app as we get information. Teachers will be available via phone, text message, or email. Teachers will be calling the numbers listed in SKYWARD. If we don’t have a correct phone number for you in SKYWARD, then you will need to call the office and have it changed. This will help you and our teachers to communicate more effectively. Junior High and High School students need to check their email for updates. If you don’t have the internet, the teachers will call to talk to these students. Thank you for your patience in this confusing and frustrating time. There are so many people with lives that have been changed due to the Coronavirus. It is so hard to know what to do and when to do it. Please observe social distancing and wash/sanitize your hands frequently. If you have any issues or need to talk about school-related issues. Just call the school-715-787-3211 and leave a message. We will call you back as soon as possible. Sincerely, Newell E. Haffner Benjamin Heninger haffnen@gresham.k12.wi.us heningb@gresham.k12.wi.us

The support staff had a great day! They cleaned the hall lockers, gym lockers, organized instruments, and helped to organize teacher packets. We will be delivering these things to our families later in the week.

Dear Students, I want to give you an update with the information that I know. This week, I treated it like it was a spring break just to see what Governor Evers and President Trump were going to do with this pandemic. We are delivering Lunch and Breakfast to all of the children under 18 in the District that requested them. The secretaries did a great job of calling all of the families in our school district, checking on internet access, and inquiring about meals. We will be delivering your locker and gym locker contents during the week of March 23-27. We will be putting your locker contents in a black bag with your name on it. This limits the opportunity for exposure of the school staff to the coronavirus. During the week of March 23-27, Teachers will be coming in to create virtual lessons and packet work. I am hoping that we can get this out to students on March 30, 2020 while we deliver lunches. We are trying to determine the best option for providing access to learning. This may include district issued chromebooks. We have a lot more questions than answers right now: Do we have graduation? How do we grade students? What about scholarships? To name just a few of them. We are trying to figure all of this out, BUT it is a very slow process. Here is ONE THING that I know: If you were missing work before 3/13/2020, then you should make all of this up. These 5 weeks could IN THEORY be your 3rd quarter, 4th quarter, and semester grades. I want grades to be as high as possible if this is the case. You can submit missing work via email, work exchange when the bus drops off your meal, traditional mail, pictures on your phones, and/or submitted through google classroom. Any work assigned after 3/13, may or may not be counted in your final grades. The state has not clarified it’s stance on this issue. Please don’t stress in this confusing time. Let me do all of that for all of you. I have faith that this will all work out. Have a great day and keep checking your emails for updates. Please keep in mind that all of what I just typed could change in an instant depending on Governor Evers and President Trump. This is the best update that I can do as of 5:54 pm. Sincerely, Mr H
