Spring Break NYC Trip Log: Last Day, Wednesday, April 1
The highlights of the group’s final day started with a morning performance by the choir members at Saint Bartholomew’s Church in Midtown Manhattan, renowned for its Byzantine and Romanesque Revival architecture and iconic triple-door portal. Following the performance, was a stop at beautiful Central Park. It was a perfect day to visit and the cherry on top were the musical performers adding to the relaxed ambiance. Then, it was off to Radio City Music Hall, constructed in 1932. Throughout the year, it hosts major touring artists, high-profile concerts, and award ceremonies including the annual Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes and the annual Tony Awards. The group was able to learn the secrets of the Great Stage, discover art deco masterpieces, and even meet a Rockette. The last stop before dinner was to Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center. Here, they rode an elevator up 70 stories to an open-air deck approximately 850 feet above the street level. The 70th floor offers a 360-degree view of the Big Apple and is an impressive look at the city from above. By this time everyone was ready for supper and we ended our trip with a meal from Gayle’s Broadway Rose restaurant which included live entertainment from talented, aspiring Broadway performers. After dinner, it was time to hit the open road and head for home. Thank you for all of the hospitality and the incredible memories that will last a lifetime, NYC!

UPCOMING BLOOD DRIVE - Sign up and help save lives.

Spring Break NYC Trip Log continued...Tuesday, March 31st
This was an especially memorable morning, as the group drove over to Liberty Park, NJ, where they boarded a boat and headed out to Ellis Island. They walked through the same halls and rooms of a place that received millions of the world’s “huddled masses” who’d come in search of the American Dream. The boat ride provided incredible views of the impressive Statue of Liberty, a true highlight of the entire trip! The afternoon included a contemplative visit to the 9/11 Memorial and the FDNY Memorial Wall, the Oculus Mall, St. Patrick's Cathedral, more amazing pizza, and, to end the day on a high note, a performance of Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ on Broadway!

Spring Break NYC Trip Log continued...: Monday, March 30th
The day’s activities began at Pearl Studios; a premier rental facility for auditions, rehearsals, and classes in the performing arts and major hub for actors, dancers, and musicians. The group participated in a ‘Broadway Imagined’ workshop with 3 Broadway musicians who not only performed for them, but answered questions about what life is like for them and their path to Broadway. Next stop was Chelsea Market for lunch and some exploring including checking out The High Line and Little Island. Soon it was time for the band students to perform on the flight deck of the decommissioned aircraft carrier, the USS Intrepid. Following the performance and exploration of the Intrepid Museum, dinner was waiting for them at La Nonna’s for some fine Italian dining. Some wrapped up the day by testing out their bargaining skills in Chinatown while others enjoyed creamy gelato from Little Italy. Another fabulous day!

Booster Volleyball has come to an end! Coach Smith and Coach Ejnik would like to thank all the players who chose to spend their Saturdays with us for the past 6 weeks. We saw a ton of growth and hope the players had fun along the way.
Also, a big thanks goes out to all the parents, high school players, and extra coaches for helping out and making sure it was a success. This does not happen without you. We look forward to continuing to grow our volleyball program here in Gresham! We can not wait to see what next year brings!

Last Friday, April 24th, our Middle School and High School students took part in a Service Day focused on giving back to the community. Groups of students volunteered at the local Humane Society, helped clean and prepare the school garden, picked up trash in Gresham parks, and worked to clean and restore the Gresham mural. It was a great opportunity for students to show responsibility, teamwork, and pride in their community.
